Is 60000 euro good salary in germany

Spouse I came to Germany with a salary of 60k per year, gross.

I came with my wife and dog… and being married, here, is financially a good deal, because we pay less taxes than single people, widows, people with two jobs, or freelancers (there are 6 tax classes in the country, which affects your liquid income).

The city I chose is Berlin, and in this city, my personal opinion is that the food is great. I have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, both in restaurants/bars or supermarkets.

Refugees and the tech industry contribute to inflating the cost of rent in the city, which serves as a downside for people like me. Anyway, it’s possible to find a fully furnished flat, with electricity, water, and heating included, for something between 800 and 1500 €. It depends on how far you wanna live away from the city center and how big will be the flat.

Also, in my opinion, you don’t need a car to live in this city. The public transport works well, and if you sign an annual contract, it’s 64 € per month instead of 84. Also, if you prefer to exercise yourself, you can use a bike… there’s enough biking culture for that.

If I compare the lifestyle I had in Brazil, and the one I’m having here, I did a major upgrade for myself and my wife, and I would recommend moving to Germany.

I have multiple friends who are single, and make less than 60k per year, but are happy too.

It’s enough money to pay the bills, save, and travel. Also, it’s by far not the reality of the majority of Germans… In 2020, the national minimum wage in Germany. remained fixed at 1,584 € per month, that is 19,008 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

Of course, all I said, will depend on your lifestyle. I hope you can make a good decision.

Cheers
