Overview

There are two major things that everyone should know about the Har Ki Dun Trek. The first thing is perfect for beginners. The second one is usually treated as one of the most charming trips in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas. It is also named as Valley (Dun) of God or Shiva (Har).

The History

It is retained that this valley holds spiritual importance for Hindus and allows its ancient history of Mahabharata. As stated by the residents of that place, the eldest brother of Pandavas, Yudhishthira, rated the Himalayan mountains as “Swargarohini” on the way to the wonderland.

Only Yudhishtra and the dog were only able to finish the traveling. According to history, Yudhishtra was the only person who reached heaven because he never lied in his lifetime.

The Trek

 Many travelers opt to travel around 12kms per day, as per their convenience. On the day of the journey, a pleasant falling trip to Osla gives an astonishing vision of the surrounding terrains. Many tourists stop their journeys at night time at the Osla, a township where the people are friendly and amazing by itself. On the final day of the journey, it continues downwards to the Sankri and is considered as a more beautiful hilly vision and rich grassland. After reaching the destination, the journey returns back to Dehradun by road.
